Global travelers can use Alipay for payments whether they are shopping in brick-and-mortar stores, medical appointments, hailing a cab, ridesharing, taking public transport (metro and public bus), or booking flight tickets and hotels. Furthermore, the international version of Alipay provides additional services like online translation and currency conversion, enhancing the travel experience for foreign tourists in China.‌

How to set up Alipay - a Guide for foreigners

Download the Alipay app from your mobile app store (both iOS and Android versions are available), and open it

Tap on "Sign Up",

Select your international region such as Malaysia, Singapore, USA, etc.

Fill in your phone number(preferably) or email address, you will receive a verification code that you need to enter to proceed.

Fill in the SMS code, and accept Alipay’s privacy terms and user policy, then next.

Set a login password and a payment password.
The login password is used to access your Alipay account, while the payment password is used to authorize transactions.

or Tap on "Me" at the bottom right corner of the app and then tap on "Identity Verification".
Choose "Verify Now" and select your country and document type.

You can use your passport or ID document to verify your identity.

Enter your name and document number as they appear on your document.

You may also need to upload a photo of your document and a selfie.

Wait for the verification process to complete. It may take a few minutes or hours, depending on the system.

Now, Alipay account Ok.
Following is binding you bank card to activate your account.
Once your identity is verified, you can add a bank cardto your Alipay account and start using it.

Open Alipay App, log in, and tap on "Me".

Select "Bank cards" and click "+", and then "Scan" you bank card (preferably credit card of Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Clu) or fill in your bank card informtion, as well as your Passport info here if necessary.

Fill in you phone nubmer to recieve the verification SMS code.
