Summary on Avoid Natural Disasters from Your Travel China

In China, the natural disasters heavily effeted foreign tourists are mainly including rainstorm, floods, snow storm, typhoons, landslide, debris flow, earthquakes, sandstorms etc.

To knowledge of spatial and temporal distribution of natural disasters in China, to avoid the time and areas with high incidence of natural disasters when making travel plans.


Natural Disasters effected Time and Regions

As to rainstorms and floods, flood season from May to September, and mid-range flood from late June to earlier August, and heavily flood with high frequency occurred in July; Heavily effected regions are Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi and Fujian, Hainan, Zhejiang, later are other area.

As to typhoons, heavily effected area are Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Zhejiang, usually from May to September, and heavily in August.

As to geological disasters such as landslide and debris slow, usually occurred in summer and heavily disaster in July in mountains regions.

As to  low-temperature freezing and snow disasters, in general occurred in China northern regions, heavily in Xinjiang and Gansu, usually in winter.

For sightseeing travel, considered the time and travel safety, April, May, September, October is the better months to travel China southern areas; and May, June, August, September is the better months to visit China northern regions.

Anyway, the above analysis and suggestions cannot cover all cases, because China has a complex terrain and a vast area.
