Summary on Water Conservancy and Hydropower Projects of China
By the end of 2024, China's cumulative installed capacity of the country's renewable energy reached 1.889 billion kilowatts, account for 57.3% of total installed capacity. And of them, hydropower accounted for 436 million kilowatts, wind power for 521 million kilowatts, solar power for 887 million kilowatts, and biomass power for 46 million kilowatts, all are ranking the first in the world.
China's hydropower construction is the largest, safest, highest quality, most efficient, and technologically advanced country in the world.
The construction of massive water conservancy projects in the form of dams and reservoirs, water transfer projects, and irrigation infrastructure has brought tremendous economic and social benefits.
Since 2024, 37 projects have been newly started, covering flood control and drainage, water supply, irrigation, and ecological protection and restoration projects.
